December 2023

Welcome to BrickXBrick Monthly, our home for news, events, and builds you might like to try at home!

This month I want to post how to make your own nativity from bricks.   I think that is generic enough that it could be our news and builds for people who want to try them.

Welcome to BrickXBrick Monthly, our home for news, events, and builds you might like to try at home!

December is the month of Advent, it is a month of contemplation as we wait for the celebration of the birth of Christ on December 25.  Nativity Scenes now appear all over the world, but how did the tradition start?  The creation of the first living Nativity Scene was attributed to St. Francis of Assisi who staged a recreation of the birth of Jesus Christ in a cave, in Italy, in 1223.  He invited the public to come and see the baby in a manger with his parents and a few animals.  Fast forward to 2023, Nativity Scenes now come with many figures, but they all serve the same purpose - they help us remember the reason for the season!  Enjoy creating your own Nativity Scene from bricks and figures as you continue a tradition that started more than 2,000 years ago! Blessed Advent to all!

I like this one the best
