August signals the last month of school break for many students. Have you become a little bored? Check out the videos below – who knew breaking up the boredom could be so exciting! Get your friends together and build a GBC module!

Nothing is more mesmerizing than watching a GBC for the first time (aka - Great Ball Contraption) except maybe an amusement park ride, as Daniela mentioned in our July post. As purposeless as it is (move mini soccer balls from point A to B) the exercise of building one is a priceless opportunity to blend all the parts of STEAM in a really fun way. Take a look at the videos below – I have included a GBC module that uses common parts and is very buildable for the first-timer.

Summer also is a great time to slow down and reflect. The word “August” means “to be marked by dignity." Take a few moments to think about your life – is it inspiring admiration or is it without purpose, like a GBC module all alone? If so, August can be an opportunity to begin a search for God’s purpose for your life – it is only the 8th month!
